Engineered Plans and Permits
Your kit home or guest house kit from Absolute Steel comes with a full set of plans and engineering specifications. These cover the foundation, frame, roof, walls, utilities – everything.
The plans are NOT signed and sealed by an engineer licensed to practice in your area but should you require that, in order to obtain a permit, that service is available for $750. If you were to contract someone to create these plans for you from scratch, you could expect to spend in excess of $2500.
Because we have done the bulk of the design and engineering work ahead of time, we can provide you with stamped and sealed plans for far less than you would normally pay. Just one more reason you’re smart to choose a kit home or guest house from Absolute Steel.
LOCAL DETAILS
Building a house of any sort involves variables that apply only to the local area. For example, the details of dealing with sewage (waste water) can be different from neighborhood to neighborhood, even within the same town. In some spots you can connect to the local sewer system. In others, you’ll have to put in your own septic system.
Similarly, requirements for building site preparation can vary widely. If the spot where you plan to build your kit house is level, things are simple. If your lot is on a slope, though, you may need some site preparation (leveling or filling) before considering which foundation is best for you.
Zoning and building regulations also vary from place to place. Though it isn’t possible for us to keep up with the rules in all locations, assisting you to meet them is part of the customer service we’re famous for.
In short, even if we can’t anticipate all variables, we’ll be happy to consult with you to make sure they’re covered, and smooth the process of completing your new home kit or guesthouse.
