Patrick. We have steel buildings in the west coast of Florida region that have been engineered for 140 mph gust and 110 mph sustained winds.

What is the wind load rating? Specifically, how many miles an hour can your building withstand?

Thanks for your input Tom. I agree with you, many municipalities are pretty short-sighted when it comes to metal buildings. I think this is mostly because they are not informed with the new generation of steel buildings. I can understand their reasons for not wanting the old quonset style buildings or the old rusty sheds in their cities but take a look at this metal building Doesn't look at all like the "metal building" most think of as a metal building. We in the industry need to educate these people.

FYI: Your clients had better also check with their local municipality. Some; like the one I live in (Wheat Ridge CO) have been passing “No metal building” ordinances. This not only means sheds, but also any metal clad building up to and including large light industrial buildings. Ridiculous, but true. I wish that the metal building industry would take these ordinances to task for inhibiting free trade or discriminating against a building material, or something.

No problem Andrew. We try and offer as much detailed information to customers so they can feel comfortable with their “Do-It-Yourself” steel building projects. Knowledge is power and the more you know the easier the building installation will go.
